Both Dr. Tara and Dr. Jerry exceed the required continued education hours each year and are committed to staying on the cutting edge of orthodontics. With the use of new and advanced techniques, there is no reason for any adult or child to go through life embarrassed to smile!
Dr. Tara R. Cash
Dr. Tara decided after graduating with an interior design degree from the University of Arkansas that smiles were actually what she wanted to design. She was one of a 100 accepted into the University of Missouri, Kansas City dental school program from over 1100 applicants. She then went on to be one of only four accepted into the UMKC orthodontic program from hundreds of applicants. Upon graduation, she joined Cash Family Orthodontics and pursued specialized training in the NAM appliance used for newborn babies with cleft palates.
The NAM (nasoalveolar molding) technology helps shape the gums, lips and nostrils in very young patients before cleft palate surgery, which dramatically decreases the number of surgeries required for cleft palate babies and can often eliminate the need for a bone graft. Dr. Tara is one of only a select few in the region with the expertise and training needed to properly employ the NAM appliance in cleft palate treatment. For more about nasoalveolar molding, see the documents below:
When she is not in the office working, you will find Dr. Tara hanging out with her family, getting in a good workout, or playing with her white boxer, Faith.
Dr. Jerry F. Cash
Dr. Jerry has always been exceptional. He graduated from dental school in three years, instead of the normal four. He taught at the dental school, practicing dentistry in Kansas, completed an optional master's thesis, and finished his orthodontic residency. After traveling a five-state area, Dr. Jerry and his wife, Shara, made Springfield their home over 35 years ago. Dr. Jerry is active in many community organizations and has been recognized many times over for his technical and management skills and his ability to make beautiful smiles.
When Dr. Jerry is not in the office, you might find him talking to other dentists or working in a round of golf.
